Mr J. 11. Edmundson, of Napier, managing-director of the New Zealand Acetone and Acetylene Welding Company, visited Hawera to-day. Mr M. H. Wynyard, of Auckland, motorists’ representative on the Main Highways Board, passed through Hawera this .morning on his way to the North Island Motor Union- annual conference which opens at New Plymouth to-morrow. Air E. Paterson, of Wellington, member of the New Zealand Radio Broadcasting Board, arrived in Hawera this morning and left later for New Plymouth. Mr R. W. Roydhouse, proprietor of the “Wairarapa Daily Times,” was a visitor to Hawera to-day. Air R. W. R. Carey, managing director of the Kaiapoi Woollen- Company, Christchurch, spent -the morning in Hawera and left later for the north. Messrs D. L. Bon (chairman of directors of the North Island Alutual Insurance Association), N. S. Hunt (secretary), T. Romaine (chief assessor) and Dr. E, E. Porritt (director) went through Hawera to-day oil their way to the Motor Union conference at New Plymouth.

Mr F. W. Johnston, well-known Christchurch solicitor, was a visitor to Hawera to-day. Delegates who passed through Hawera to-day on their way to the Alotor "Union conference, which opens at New Plymouth to-morrow', were Messrs A. ©. Burgess, F. J. Hill and L. :R. Bain (Wanganui), R. AI. Chadwick (Hastings) and W. A. Sutherland (Wellington). Air R. H. Nesbit, Australian Trade Commissioner, accompanied by his assistant, Mr J. Payne, arrived in HaWera to-day and are staying at the Central Hotel.
