MANGATOKI PERSONALS Mrs A. E. Mahon, president of the Jinngatoki Women’s fnstitute, left on Monday for Auckland, where she will attend the Dominion Conference. Mrs. A. E. McGuinness, aceompannied by her mother, Mrs Norgrove, left on a motor tour of Auckland and Napier.

Airs J. W. Townend has returned from a visit to Napier. Aliss I. Carlson returned from Auckland during the week. Nurse Perry, who is on the staff of the Auckland Hospital, is visiting her parents at Alangatoki. Mrs T. Linn and Airs T. Perry are visitors to New PlymouthThe final for the Hardley Cup was played during the week-end, G. Court beating \V. ‘Williams. 7 and 5. A bogey match played during the week-end was won by G. The winners of the fortnightly eribbage and euchre tournament held an. Friday night were: Airs. C. Alarsh and Air. O. Castle and Air. J. White (equal) at cribbage and Mrs T. Taxrant and Air. C. White, at euchre. KAPUNI NOTES Air Ben Berry, of Kapuni, who recently suffered an injury to his back, is progressing favourably. Air George Alitehell, of Kapuni, has returned from Wellington, where he spent a fortnight’s holiday. Air. W. Campbell is an inmate of the Hawera Hospital. A “friendly” football match was played at Kapuni during the week-end between Kapuni ajid Alatapu, Kapuni winning by 22 points to six. A number of friends assembled at the residence of Air, Newton Hudson, Alangawhero Road, on Tuesday night at a smoke-concert given in his honour. Airs C. Wheeler, who has been the guest of Airs AY. AYheeler, has returned to Alanaia. Airs. F. Buckthought, who has been an inmate of the Hawera Hospital for some time, has returned to her homo at Kapuni-.

MANAIA EUCHRE A euchre and dance held, in the Manaia Parish Hall in aid of parish funds was most successful, 25 tables being occupied. Prizes were won by Miss Millie Franklin (lli games), Miss Margaret Wilson (10A games), Mr. J. A. G. Cosgrove (12 games) and Mr Alvis (1U games). A competition was won by Mr. Frevnc; and music for dancing was supplied by Mr. M. Whalen, and Mr. L. Hughes was M.C. Supper was provided by a ladies’ committee comprising Mesdames M.
