RECKLESS DRIVING CHARGE
DEATH OF WELLINGTON MAN EXCESSIVE SPEED ALLEGED (By Telegraph—Press Association.) U. WELLINGTON, June 26. Patrick Thomas Syron was charged to-day that he recklessly drove a motorcar and thereby caused' the death of Norman Alexander Anderson. Sub-Inspector Carroll said the case arose .from an accident on May 6, when deceased was struck and crushed against a verandah post. Evidence is being given, similar to that at the inquest, that the car seemed to have difficulty in turning a corner. It was proceeding fast and did not stop after the accident.
A civil servant said he did not think he had seen a car travel as fast before on the streets of Wellington, while another civil servant gave his estimate of ? speed' at about 30 miles an hour. Thp latter said it appeared the driver was going to stop, but he continued up Willis Street at a fast speed.
