Results in the open golf championship at iMuirfield are as follow: One hungred and nine with aggregates of 153 and better qualified, including all the Americans. Cotton and Burton with 141 lead the field. Others include MacDonald-Smith, J. J. Busson, 142; C. Whitcombe, 143; Lacey, 144 - Thomson (the Irish champion and who* is the best • scoring amateur to date) 74—144; R. Whitcombe, Alliss 143; Holland, Cox, Kirkwood, Boomer, King, Easterbrook, 146; Davies, Mahon Brews 147; Sayner, Oke, Ezar, Denny, Palgham, Mitchell, 148; Compson, Dailey, Jarman, Nolan, 149; McLean, Kenyon, 150; E. R. Whitcombe, Hodson, Havers, Picard, 151; Lawson Little, Perry, Ockenden, Jolly, Gadd, J. H. Busson, 15*; Duncan, 78—152. Those who have not qualified include Ray 82—155, Hartley 136, Herd 158, Garnett 162, Braid 83 —164. The golfers in the morning were handicapped by a mist reducing visibility to fifty yards. Cotton suffered as the result of this and drove into the rought on the first seven holes. Nevertheless he went out in thirtythree. Pi,card was unfortunate the previous night in finishing in the mist, and it was also misty when he went out again this morning. This resulted in his being almost eliminated. Lawson Little saved himself with two at the thirteenth, and although he played when the weather had improved he drove erratically. Mitchell, playing under the worst conditions, had a marvellous 71. ..
