COAL STRIKE AVERTED

ROOSEVELT INTERVENES

TEMPORARY AGREEMENT (United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph OopyTiebt.) WASHINGTON, June 15. The coal strike which threatened to start on Friday was averted at the last minute by the personal intervention of President Roosevelt, who negotiated an agreement affecting 450,000 miners for 30 days, in which time the Administration hopes to pass legislation to meet the complaints of the workers.

The Toledo electric strike has again been called, with the serious danger of a power stoppage in an area containing a population of half a million.
