BADMINTON AT ELTHAM

OFFICIAL OPENING OF CLUB (From Our Eltham Correspondent.) The newly formed committee of the Eltham Badminton Club met on Thursday, when .Mr E. Townsend presided. Also present were Misses R. Townsend, P. Stewart, L. Bitter, J • Fountaine and Messrs JT • Cover, J. Whiting and M. Haswell (secretary). Apologies for absence were received from Misses S. Carncross, S. Spencer, and Mr C. Forth. Mr Townsend reported that the club had boon successful in obtaining the C.E.M.S. building, the club to have full control of the building and all necessary gear, including two ping pong tables that have been procured. To compensate members for tho shortness of the season, play would take place every night and also dui ing week-ends.

The suggestion that honorary members he enrolled was approved by the committee, the fee to be ss. Privileges extended to honorary members would include free admission to the club rooms on any occasion, and use of the ping pong sets and badminton for play on one night each month to he sot aside entirely for their entertainment. Officials in charge during the various open days of the club were selected as follows: — Monday. Mr H. Cover; Tuesday, Miss I?. Townsend; Wednesday. Mr .IS. Townsend; Thursday, Mrs R. S. Allen; Friday, Mr ,T. Whiting; weekends, Miss Whiting and Messrs C Forth and D. Knuckey.
