Butter Shows Increase of 4A Over Last Week SALES REPORTED AT 1 Ofd LB. CHEESE MARKET QUIET Butter quotations: This week.—B6s to 87s; very firm. Last week.—B3s ; firm. Last year.—79s to 80s. BUTTER. Rutter shows an advance of 3s to 4s over last week’s figures, the market being firm at S6s to 87, being equal to approximately 10d Tier Jl> f.o.b.

During the week forward buyers have shown considerable activity and this morning sales have been reported at up to 103 d f.o.b. for June-July make, which, after deducting the usual commission, is equal to a “spot” price of 91s to 92s per cwt. There is little butter available, most selling factories having completed sales.

Deliveries in London for the week ending June 7 were 1597 tons, compared with 1492 tons for the same period last year. The stock position has improved considerably, there being 6824 tons in store in London, compared with 12,134 tons at this dato last year. Retail prices of New Zealand and Danish butter remain unchanged in London at lOd and Is per lb respectively.

CHEESE POSITION. There is little change in tho nrice of cfieese compared with last week, tho market being steady at 44s lor white and 44s 6d for coloured, which represents a rise of 6d over last Saturday’s prices.

Alter a long period of inactivity, forward buyers have snown some interest iu cheese and sales have been reported, mamly in the Soutti Island, at up to sid f.o.b. for cheese in store and the balance of the season’s make. Tms bid is equal to slightly over 48s per cwt. landed terms London. Although this is in excess of present quotations, most Taranaki factories nave not shown interest in the price. Enquiries to-day show that it is doubtful if 5Jd is now available. The grading returns for the week ending June 1 show that 15,509 crates went through tho grading store, compared with 11,963 crates for the corresponding period last year. This is a most satisfactory increase.

The stock position in London is not quite so satisfactory, there being 1.73,811 crates in store, compared with L 36,652 crates for the same period last year. Deliveries in London for the week ending June 7 were 18.151 crates, as compared with 24,517 crates at this time last year.

HENRY A. LANE’S REPORT. Messrs Henry A. Lane and Co., Ltd., Hawera, report having received the following cabled market report from their London office: Butter 86s; market firm. Cheese, white 43s 6d to 445. coloured 44s to 44s 6d: market steady.

The New Zealand Dairy Board !has fixed the minimum prices for dairy produce on the basis of butter 10|d, and ehees od (equivalent, to 84s to 80s and 44s respectively c.i.f.e.). MARKET VERY QUIET. LONDON OFFICE ADVICE. The market is weaker for second quality lambs: first grades remain firm. Wethers: The market is dull, and there is little business doing. Ewes: The market is weaker for light weights ; heavy weights remain steady. Beef: Weaker values ruling owing to a lack of demand. Pork: The market is dull. Trade is affected by the holidays. The above advice has been cabled from London under date Juno 13, by Henry S. Fitter and Sons, Ltd., who quote current prices as follow :
