ASHBURTON RELIEF WORKERS
REQUEST FOR CITY SCALE CANNOT BE GRANTED (By Telegraph- Press Association.) ASHBURTON, To-day. Replying to a resolution by a recent public meeting, the Commissioner of Employment declines to place Ashburton relief workers on the city scale or increase sustenance and relief payments by 10s weekly. He regrets that financial considerations at the moment preclude the adoption of the suggestions.
