The order under the Merchandise Marks Act, which will be operative on June 29, may have an important and, perhaps, beneficial effect on Dominion timber exporters. The order provides that it shall be unlawful to import into Britain, or offer for sale, timbers unless marked, giving an indication of the origin, at intervals of not more than nine inches, including planed tongued and grooved, or planed and otherwise manufactured hardwood flooring, blocks or strips of hardwood parquet flooring, in sections or joined together. The sale of goods imported prior to June 29 will not be affected till January 1, 1936.
