This is the first event in British waters, in which the American yacht, Yankee, was competing. The Endeavour was leading when the accident happened. She was taken in tow by a pleasure steamer off Mause. The lightship Yankee reached home ahead of Valsheda, the only other competitor and was awarded the race.
