EASTER PARTY MAROONED

To be marooned on a small island at Pert- Waikato on Sunday night was the unenviable, experience of Mr H. Gordon and family and a party of friends. They were spending Easter in a cottage on tlie island, wlien streams surrounding the island rose, rapidly, cutting them off from the mainland. Cries for help were beard by the caretaker of a children’s camp in the vicinity, who, with the assistance of a-local Maori, rescued the campers, the Maori bringing the children over a .swollen sti'cam on his back. The adults of the party were assisted over the stream with -ropes.
