"AN OBVIOUS FAKE”

Published Story of Polish=German Alliance SOVIET MANOEUVRE? ALLEGATIONS IN FRANCE

(United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph Copyright). Received 1.15 p.m. to-day. PARIS, April 23. “Le. Journal” has been quick to find a reason for. the publication of alleged Polish-German secret treaty. It says that if is a Soviet political manoeuvre to force France to sign a Russo-French treaty with the condition of military co-operation. It adds that the Polish-German story published in a provincial newspaper on April 3 was an obvious fake. It was more than coincidence that it was revived now.

A message from Paris on Monday stated that the former -Cabinet- Minister, M. Lamoreux, published in a local newspaper in 'his constituency the text of an alleged secret treaty concluded between Germany and Poland in February, under which the two countries promise to combine their military, economic and financial resources to repulse an unprovoked assault.

Poland, stated the message, guarantees the freedom of the passage of German troops through its territory for the purpose of repulsing provocation from the east or north-east. Germany guarantees the inviolability of the Polish frontiers. Poland undertakes not to make any decision without consulting Germany. The treaty, it is alleged, remains in force for two years and is automatically renewable for the same period unless it is denounced six months before its expiry.
