"When William Penn founded the Quaker state, of Pennsylvania he told the Indians that the Quakers came without weapons and that they were all subject to the same Great Spirit,” said Mr Arthur Douglass, speaking at the Christchurch Friends’ Conference on. Saturday evening. He said that for 70 years, while the other eolonies round about were being attacked, Pennsylvania was left alone, though the state had no armament or defence of any kind.
