SHOOTING PROSPECTS
SEASON OPENS ON MAY 1 DUCKS AND COCK PHEASANTS
- Prospects for this year’s shooting season, which will open on May il, are bright, according to reports received from various imrts of South Taranaki. The season fox- ducks and black swan will be observed for two months, from Alay 1 to June 30, hut that for cock pheasants and Californian quail will extend until July 31, a period of three months. The Hawera Acclimatisation Society has made big liberations of pheasants, and as the last season was a good one for breeding, because of the fine weather, it is expected that the birds will be numerous. The good breeding season lias also made its impression on ducks, which are plentiful on the lakes.
An advertisement in this issue gives the names of shopkeepers, from whom licenses may be procured.
