Salvation Army corps in various parts of Taranaki held a combined picnic at Stratford yesterday when representatives were present from Stratford, Hawera, Eltham, Inglewood and New Plymouth. There were several showers in the afternoon, the weather affecting the attendance. . It was decided to make the event an annual one, the next to be held at Stratford on New Year’s Day. The New Plymouth branch of the New Zealand Labour Party has decided to nominate a full ticket of eight candidates for the' New Plymouth Borough Council elections. Seats on the New Plymouth Harbour Board and Taranaki Hospital Board will also be contested. The following names have already been announced for' nomination: ’ Borough Council, Messrs G. Fleming, R, S. S. Richardson, B. Thorne and W, FftJponer; Hospital Board. Messrs R. S. 8. Richardson, B. Thorne and V. George; Harbour Board, Messrs R. S. S. Richardson and B. Thorne. Additional names for the Borough Council election have yet to be announced.
