By defeating Stratford in. the final Hawera won‘ the .Casey Shield at the annual Rugby football.seye_n-a-side-tour-nament conducted by the Kaponga Athletic Club at Victoria Park, Kaponga, on Easter Saturday. Conditions were ideal for the tourney and in the majority, of the games, bright football was the order. The ground was in good condition 1 following the attention given it during the cricket season, and the large attendance of over 1000 spectators did not fail to appreciate Ihe high lights in the. day’s play. Fifteen teams took part, the play being conducted on, a knock-out basis. Both Clifton A.and Okaiawa A, winners and runners-up respectively at last year’s fixture, were eliminated before the semi-final.
