VIEWS ON HALL MARK’S WIN LUGGED IN AT CRITICAL STAGE TWICE PULLED OFF HIGH
rtinned £nm mnocUUon —By Zloctno Telegfmpfc Copyright.) Received 1 p.m. to-day. SYDNEY, To-day. Commenting on the Doncaster Handicap, the “Sydney Morning Herald’’ says that Hall Mark displayed remarkable gameness. He was in the centre of the field at the half-mile, but battled on very aggressively. There is no doubt that Hall Mark, under his weight, lugged in at a critical stage of the race, and twieo his jockey had stop riding him and pull, him off High.
The “Herald” adds that Voitrc is a good judge of pace and is vigorous in a finish. , *
The “Telegraph” says that Hall Mark, regarded almost solely as a stayer, showed'’brilliance against firstclass milers that carried him to. a memorable victory.
The “Labour Daily'’ says the owners of Hall Mark were somewhat fortunate in that tile stewards dismissed the protest entered on behalf of the runner-up, High. Thirty yards from the post Hall Mark rolled on High, and the incident decided the issue in, the former’s favour. As the stewards censured for not keeping his mount on a true course, it is difficult to understand why the objection was not sustained.
