SOUTH TARANAKI TOURNEY FIRST THREE ROUNDS PLAYED SIX RINKS UNBEATEN,

Five rinks skipped by Espiner (Manaia), A. C. Smith (Park), Andrews (Manaia), Maslin (Hawera), Smrirt (New Plymouth) and Douglass (West End) Were unbeaten at the conclusion of the first three rounds played yesterday in the 12th South Taranaki Six rinks skipped by Espiner (MaEaster bowling tournament. Thirty-eight rinks are competing m three sections and tlie tournament is conducted on the usual lines, eight rounds being played. Qualifiers tor post-section play will be teams with six or more lvins, teams winning the sections and teams tieing in the lead in .section play. The weather yesterday Avas ideal, bright sunshine and an absence of wind favouring the players on aU three greens at Paik, Hawera and Manaia, where the playing surfaces were fast and true. Under the auspices of the West End Bowling Club a one-day tournament was held at New Plymouth yesterday. Ten rinlcs took part and that skipped by E. Gernhoefer emerged the winner.

A progressive pairs toufamerit was held by the Fitzroy Club yesterday, 12 players taking part. The winning lead was Brinsley with 3£ wins, and Black and Ellett with four wins each led the skips, Black winning on aggregate points. Five games of 12 heads were played. Another pairs competition will be held at Fitzroy on Monday.
