Musical Evening
; An enjoyable evening was spent at the Hawera Women’s Club on Monday night, when Mr L. O. Hooker entertained members with a programme of recorded music. The programme included a. Beethoven piano solo, played by Arthur Schnabel, a violin duet by Fritz and Hugo Kreisler, Russian folk 'songs by the Don Cossack-choir, a. prelude by the Milan Symphony Orchestra, and Gilbert and Sullivan’s opera “The Gondoliers.”
Miss C. Reilly, who was t'he hostess of the evening, wore a figured marocain frock in white, black and red 1 tunings. Miss Reilly introduced Mr Hooker to the audience and later thanked him for the excellent programme whi.ch he had arranged. Among those present were Mesdames B. McCarthy. H. G. Whitehead, W. G. Simpson, W. W. Thomas, H. D. Cameron, A. Evans, O. K. Tennent, J. Ekdalil, A. Hunter, A. Thomson, P. 0. Veale, Dakin, H. R. Kemp, E. Evans, B. C. Bennett, Misses McCall, Richardson, Huggins, M. Thomson, Ekdalil, Knight, B. Ryan and M. Tennent.
