HIGHER PAY FOR EMPLOYEES
NEW SOUTH WALES RAILWAYS ADDITIONAL COST £24,000 YEARLY (United Frew association —By Electric Telegraph Copyright.) SYDNEY, March 7. The application of the Federal basic wage to 5000 New South Wales railway employees, who had previously been covered by State awards, was granted by Mr Justice Brockman in the Federal Arbitration Court.
The judge pointed out that the extra cost would be about £24,000 a vear.
Awards issued yesterday and to-day covered about 20,000 employees, the total cbfet being £96,000.
