POULTRY DEMONSTRATION

AMATEUR BIRD JUDGING A demonstration of interest to poultrymen took place in the poultry hall at the Hawera Winter Show buildings last night in conjunction with an amateur bird judging competition. Mr D. Stewart, Normanby, was the demonstrator. There was a good attendance of members of the -lawera Poultry, Pigeon and Canary Ciub and the public present. Judging took place before Mr Stewart’s demonstration. The cards of the 19 entrants and tliat of Mr Stewart were then compared and it was found that Mr A. R. Watson, with two cards of 38 points each, and Air A. R. Hall, 38 points, had tied for first. The possible was 43 points. Judging took place on show and utility points. Mr Stewart explained his plaeings and delivered a short address on the proportions of birds for show purposes. The visitors were welcomed by Mr G. Harding, president of the club, who stressed the value of the demonstration in view of the club’s approaching young bird show. A vote of thanks to Mr Stewart was carried by acclamation.
