AMAZING SPEECH IN DIET. MEMBERS “LIFE INSECURE.” (United Press Association—By Electrio Telegraph Copyright). TOKIO, March 5. In an amazing speech in the Diet, Mr Seijun Ando said he knew his life was insecure because, with reactionaries rampant, he intended to reveal the prevailing conditions under a politically and 1 bureaucratically suppressed PTess.

“True deliberation in the Diet on Government policies is impossible,” he said. “We resent it that tho Government neglects to oontrol the ruffians and vigorously oppose the trend towards Fascism originating by unseen hands and operating behind the police and military. There is a certain military faction which is to be blamed. “Reactionary organisations are destroying the freedom of the Press and of speech in the Diet under the mask that they are approved by militarists. Criticisms ventured by members of the Diet on militarism and diplomacy are immediately interpreted by reactionaries as unpatriotic.

“A -succession of assassinations of business men and newspapermen and threats against legislators’ lives indicates the tendency that is imperilling the people’s freedom. Unlawful acts of violence are recurring with remarkable frequency.”
