REMARKABLE OPERATION

MISPLACED ORGANS ADJUSTED AMERICAN DOCTOR’S FEAT (United Press Association—By iSlectrio Telegraph Copyright). FALL RIVER (Mass.), March 4. What is considered to be one of the most remarkable operations performed in the United States occurred to-day when in clinical exploration the wellknown' surgeon and expert in hernia, Dr. Philemon Truesdale, put into then normal position the inverted stomach and other misplaced organs of a 10-year-old child, Alice Jane McHenry. The operation was attended by a largo group of observing physicians. Dr. Truesdale, when the situation became apparent in all details on the operating table, found it necessary to take tho stomach, which was upside down and up under the girl’s shoulder in the left chest cavity, with all but two feet of her intestines and spleen and appendix and place them in the normal position. Alyce’s case, which attracted national attention, was considered grave and although she stood the two hour ordeal well, her physician declined to predict if she would recover. “I do not want anybody to say this operation was a success but I do not want anyone to say it was the opposite,” said Dr. Truesdale.
