TWELVE YEARS IN FILMS

Unlike the -ephemeral careers of many satellites in the cinema sky, Richard Dix has appeared in motion pictures for twelve years, counting back from liis latest starring production, “His Greatest Gamble,” which will screen at the Grand Theatre tomorrow' and on Friday. Dix is outstanding in that limited group of film players who successfully bridged the gap between silent and talking pictures.

In his colourful career, Dix has probably played in more epic productions than any other actor. Such films as “The Christian,” “The Vanishing American,” “The Conquerors,” “Cim-

arron," “Hell's Highway,." and more recently “Stingarec," can be accredited to him. In “liis Greatest Gamble ’' he carries a strikingly new role, portraying a father who climaxes a scapegrace career witli a heroic sacrifice for his daughter. Dix is surrounded by a cast studded with talented players, including Dorothy Wilson, Bruce Cabot, Erin O’Brien-Moore, Edith Bellows and Shirley Grey. John Robertson directed this liKO-Radio picture.
