TOKAORA SETTLERS’ PICNIC

VISIT TO TE NGUTU DOMAIN

AFTERNOON SPORTS PRO GRAMME.

Favoured with ideal weather the settlers of Tokaora held -a picnic at Te Ngutu o te Manu Domain on Saturday, when there was an attendance of between 150 and 200 parents and young people. ,In the morning there were games and after lunch a programme of competitive events was decided. The pleasant surroundings made the outing a memorable one and the hope was expressed that the picnic would become an animal event. Following afternoon tea the president of the picnic committee Mr S. Thrush, thanked the residents for the manner in which they had rallied to attend the function and ijlso the domain caretaker, for the splendid facilities proviiTe-cr. _ The settlers voiced their appreciation of the work or the committee bv a vote of thanks carried by acelajnation. Officials were as follows: Marshal, Mr S. Thrush; call steward, Mr S. J. Bennett; stepping the chain, Messrs J. Joyce and J. Lavery; nail driving, Messrs S. J. Bennett and H. Barr; liandicapper and starter, Mr 11. W«d; judges, Messrs N. Wren and V. Mills; secretary, Mr H. J. Finlay j Sports results were as follow: Tinv tots (girls).—B.
