At present nothing but butter , tubs have been made, but tallow casks will be manufactured as soon as possible. The butter tubs are made of totara or tawa, and a first-class article is being produced; of which butter makers in the district will take a note.

The Normanby school committee looks forward to a large increase in the attendance at the school, when parents at a distance take advantage of the latest regulation of the Tailway authorities. This enables those who live at a distance, but near the Tailway, to send their children free by rail to the nearest school. ... * * * * At a meeting of the Hawera County Council in answer to questions by Crs. Finlayson and •McCutcham, it was stated that the rates were coming in very slowly, only £2O being collected out of some £6OO owing in the Waimate riding.
