ACCIDENTS TO CYCLISTS

HIGH RATIO IN BRITAIN. (British Official Wireless) RUGBY, Feb. 28. Replying to a question In the House of Commons regarding the atjtitude of pedal cyclists towards the restrictions imposed upon their use of roads by recent regulations, the Minister of Transport, Mr Hore-Belisha, said that nearly one-fifth of (th#se killed on roads were pedal cyclists.

The increase in the number of pedal cyclists killed in 1933 compared with 1928 was 96 per cent., whereas the corresponding figure for pedestrians was only 8 per cent. Pedal cyclists constituted the major part of the problem of road accidents. He was confident the House would sustain him in taking all measures that might be practicable to circumscribe this peril, particularly when such measures added to the convenience of the pedal cyclists themselves.
