SLOTTED WINGS FOR PLANES
NEW ZEALAND PAYS £5500. CONSIDERED GOOD BARGAIN. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, Jail. 4. It is officially explained that the New Zealand Government paid a lump sum of £5500 for the right to use the Handley Page slotted wing device on all service aircraft in the Dominion. '1 he right to use the device will lie held for 10 years. The agreement is considered a very good bargain. In view of the number of aircraft to be equipped in New Zealand, not only will the purchase money be made up but there will be a substantial saving besides. More than half the cost will be saved within two years, while later under a projected scheme of extension the saving will be greater still.
