MANAGER OF ALL BLACKS

TARANAKI NOMINATION HON. JAMEsIIcLEOD, M.L.C. The Taranaki Rugby Union has nominated the Hon. James McLeod, M.L.C., for the position of manager of the All Blacks Rugby team to tour Great Britain this year. It is understood, however, that -in accepting nomination Mr McLeod has made it clear that he will not oppose Mr V. R. Meredith, Auckland, should Mr Meredith be available for the position of manager. During the last quarter of a century there are few who have played a more prominent part in the Taranaki and Dominion administration of Rugby than Mr McLeod. He has been continuously a member of the Taranaki Rugby Union for 27 or 2S years, and for over 20 years he had been its chairman and has ably guided the destinies of football in the province. Mr McLeod has had 'previous managerial experience, having been away on several occasions as manager of the Taranaki touring team, while in 1020 he went to Australia in charge of the All Blacks. He was a candidate for the position of manager when the All Blacks last visited South Africa, a position which was given to Mr J. P. Hornig. Wellington.
