DEATH OF RACEHORSE
MELBOURNE CUP WINNER. WOOD PIERCES WINDPIPE. (Uniteo Press Association —By Eectrlo Telegraph Copyright.) Received noon to-day. ADELAIDE, To-day. King Ingoda, winner of the Melbourne Cup in 1922, had his windpipe pierced with a piece of wood when at the stud and had to be destroyed.
At the time or his death King Ingoda was 18 years of age. He was by Comedy King out of Ingoda, and during his career on the turf was raced in partnership by C. L. Dubois and R. W. Bennett, for whom he was trained by J. Scobie. In the Melbourne Cup he carried 7.1 (A. Wilson, rider) heating The Cypher 6.12 and Mufti 7.9. He was a failure at the stud. His dam, Ingoda (Stepniak—-Armi-gara) was bred in New Zealand, where she raced with considerable success.— ‘•Childers.”
