HAWERA TRACK WORK

ONLY TWO FOR FOXTON THIS MORNING’S PREPARATIONS CARFEX IN GOOD ORDER. (By “Limited.”) Of the horses raced at Wanganui, Carfex and Harvest Moou will be the only pair to represent Hawera at Foxton. Taitoru and Colossal are being spelled for a few days. The Tigea-, who .was 1 galloped on in his race on Saturday, is being spelled for a day or two and will not fulfil his Foxton engagement.

Diagano is still an absentee from the tracks on account of his filled leg. The damage is not of a serious nature and should not keep him idle for any length of time.

The grass track was used this morning for fast work, of which there was little accomplished. The track was in good fast order.

Carfex (Vaughan), looking all the better for his outing at Wanganui, went at half pace to the five furlong disc and ran home solidly in 1.4. Arouse (Vaughan) from a slow start scampered home three furlongs in 37 l-ssec. Arouse is holding his condition and there see.ms every probability that he will face the starter iu the near future.

The two-year-old Lowenberg (Coyle) and R. Brough’s Colossus—Lady Egletine colt 'dashed over a couple of furlongs in 241 sec, finishing together. Autumn Leaf (Coyle) secured a big advantage over Richfield (Vaughan) at the start of a three furlong sprint. Richfield came remarkably well over the final two furlongs and the pair finished together in 37 l-ssec. Autumn Leaf showed an abundance of speed and Richfield went one of his best sprints for some time. Looks Well. Silk Sox (Feasey) looks well after his race on Saturday, where he had a bumpy passage and did well to finish fifth in. a field of twenty. He was given light exercise. Aga Khan (Robinson) was given useful pace work. Aga Khan has no immediate engagements, but should be in nice order for Labour Day meetings. The steeplechaser Flower Bag hit out splendidly in his allotted pace work on the plough. Green Linnet is getting more into ■racing shape and worked •well. Sandlark was given easy pace work. I Crennatown did a couple of rounds of solid exercisfe. Ridden by his ownertrainer, Mr F. Walker, Crennatown was schooled over a couple of hurdles, jumping proficiently. Crennatown will probably have a race over the hurdles at the Waverley Labour Day meeting. Rose Ray has recovered from her cold and was out doing light work. ■ Eara was badly placed in her race at Wanganui and failed to show any part of her speed. The filly looks well and will have her opportunity later. Silver Wings should be benefitted by her race and Trainer Grindlay will now concentrate on having her keyed up for Labour Day. Copey Thriving Well. Old Copey is thriving well on a course of road work and it is intended to prepare him for .the steeplechase at the Auckland Racing Club’s summer meeting. Since being put into regular work Mr T. Ash’s four-year-old mare by Kiosk out of Eka, has made steady progress and she impresses as likely to be useful 1 . So far nothing serious has been asked of her, but she moves attractively and looks like being able to gallop.
