TRANSFER OF PROPERTY
WIDOW CONTESTS ACTION. l HEARING IN APPEAL COURT. (By Telegraph- Press Association.) WELLINGTON, Sept. 17. The Appeal Court is hearing the case of Scoones versus Galvin. Shortly before his death Henry Albert Scoones, a Wellington labourer, executed a voluntary transfer of his principal asset (an unencumbered house property under the / Land Transfer Act) to himself for life, and thereafter to his nephew, ' Francis Yaughan Galvin, Wellington, an infant. At the date of Scoone’s death in 1933 the transfer had not been registered against the title to the land, and his widow, Doris Winnifred Britton Scoones, claimed that the gift had not been completed. The chief question for determination is whether the gift of the land under the Land Transfer Act is complete ■without registration of the instrument of-gift against the title to the land. The hearing has not been completed.
