A census of all horses in Great Britain was taken recently under an order of the Army Council, for the first time in 10 years. Every foal, yearling, mare, gelding, colt, filly and pony was counted. The number of horses is decreasing, according to the National Horse A&soiation, whose figures give 1,924,724 for 1924, and only 1,549,600 last year. Britain’s horse stock has to be known in case of national emergency.
