Progress results in the Eastbourne tennis tournament are:— Men’s singles, third round.—McGrath defeated Hare 6—4, 6—4, 6—3; Perry defeated Malfroy 6—4, 2—6, 6—4, 6—o; Crawford defeated Fujikura, 6—l, 6—l, 9—7; Miki defeated Turnbull 11 —9, 6—o, 6—3; Quist defeated Gandardower 2—6, 6—2, 5—7, 63, 6—l; Boussus defeated Hopman 7 6—3, 6—2. Men’s singles, fourth round.—Frenn defeated Avory 6—4, 6—3, 6—2. Men’s doubles, second round.—Crawford and McGrath defeated Steel n\an and Peters 6—3, 6—l, 4—6, 6—-3; Fujikura and Hopman defeated Graves and Morris B—6,8 —6, 6—3, 6 —l; Quist and Turnbull defeated Whoatcroft and Wilde 6—3, 6—4, 6—4. McGrath was supreme throughout with perfectly timed double-handed backhand shots. Steelman's lobbing enabled him and his partner to take a set from Crawford and McGrath. In the quarter finals of the singly? Perry meets Miki, McGrath meets Kirby, Quist meets Press arid Crawford meets Boussus.
