CHILLED BEEF TRADE
PRODUCTION IN QUEENSLAND. PLANS FOR MODERN PLANT. (United Press Association—By Electric TelegrapD Copyright. 1 BRISBANE, May 3. Tlve Minister of Agriculture, Mr F. W. Bullock, announced that since Vesteys Limited had acquired the Angliss interests in Queensland the’Sirin was considering the establishment of modern plant for chilled -beef production, at Port Alma costing £300,000. Two great American companies', Swift and Armours, had options ovier killing works in -the north .apparetly with a view t-o developing the chilled beef trade. Close observers were inclined to tli-e belief that the entry of American companies into the Australian- trade had a much deeper significance -than ‘ft he imperfect Ottawa structure afforded.”
