POPULAR BALL ASSEMBLY. (From Our Own Correspondent.) The Farmers’ ball held at Auroa on Friday night proved an outstanding success. The sum of £l9 was taken at the dfoors. . Much credit is due to Messrs A. \V. King and* R. Hartley and the committee of ladies for their efforts. The duties of M.C. were carried out by Messrs H. R. Wood, J. M. Deegan and J. Freyne. Hooker’s orchestra played the music, with extras by Misses E. O’Dea and K. Cave, and Messrs Whalen and Austin. The hall had been tastefully decorated with streamers and festoons and the stage with a bower of greenery, inside which were worked in coloured papers “A.F.TJ.” (Auroa Farmers Union). . Mr. E. J. Betts, president of the South Taranaki executive of the Farmers’ Union, was present. . A special feature was the decorating of the supper room and the three long tables in floral decorations and blue and lemon, red and lemon, and green and lemon papers respectively. This artistic work was done by Mrs. C. Evans, of Skeat Road, Auroa.
