Injuries to, the head, fractured ribs and abrasions were received by Walter Dickinson, aged 58 and married, when he fell from the top of a tram car where he was working as the result of the trolley pole recoiling violently. A second man who was working on the top of the car managed to retain his balance, but escaped with minor injury to his nose. The accident occurred at the depot while the two men were changing a trolley pole.
