NEW CONVENT FOR; TRAINING
(By Telegraph—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, ApTil 20. The work that is being done by the Society of Mary in its chain of 80 Catholic missions about the South Pacific, particularly in its leper station on Makogai Island, were brought strongly to the niinde of a large gathering at AVellinton this afternoon through the speeches at the laying of rbe foundation stone of a new- convent if the order. The ceremony was performed l>v Archbishop Redwood. The new convent building, the site •if which is at Aurora 'Terrace, is designed as a. novitiate for training New Zealand girls for missionary work in the Pacific Islands and as a rest home for those engaged in t'he work.
