Miss Bound defeated Miss Nuthall G —-2, 7— 5. In the Oroydon tournament final Boussua (France) beat A. C. Stedman (N.'Z.) 2—G, G—3, G—2. AMERICAN SURPRISES. HOT SPRINGS, April 27. The United States Davis Cup hopes received' a blow to-day when in one of the season’s biggest upsets John Van Ryu defeated Lester Stooffen, 10—S, 9 FI, G—o, G—4, in the semi-final of the Virginia State tennis tournament. In another upset Wihn'Cr Allison defeated F. X. Shields, 6—3, 2—6, 6—2, 4 —6, 6—l.
