Mr George Laurence was welcomed as a new member of .the Hawera Notary C'iluib at to-day \s weekly luncheon. The Rev. CL CL Haaper, who worked in the Wellington Anglican diocese for 23 years, but .since: 1915 has been in England, .returned with hi® wife to-day for a two months holiday, states a Press Association message from Auckland. He will attend the genera L synod in Napier. The installation of Air J. E. Campbell, ,Mayor of Hiaweina., as an honorary member of the Hawera, Rotary Club was performed by the District Governor, Mr T. C. List, at the cllrub’s weekly luncheon to-day. The classification of “honorary” is one of the highest distinctions withm the gift of the Rotary movement and is infrequently bestowed. .District-Governor hist spoke an the highest tenns of Air Campbell’s public service and other speakers joined in the welcome extended to the new honorairy member. Air Campbell suitably returned thanks.

The death occurred suddenly on April 9 at his home, Shackleton Road, Mount Eden, of Air Francis James. Wrigley at the age of 66 years. He was a nephew of Air W. 0. Daldy, who died on the same day. Air Wrigley was born in Remuera, and educated at the Newmarket School and Auckland Grammar School. He was apprenticed to the ironmonger trade with the firm of T. and S. Alonriu, Ltd. Later he started in business at Hawera, but since 1906 when he loft Hawera after disposing of his business to Messrs. Bennett and Sutton lie had been connected with the firm of Wingate and Co., Ltd. He returned to Auckland to become general manager of that firm. On his retirement, about 20 years ago, he was appointed director of the company, which position lie occupied until his death. In his earlier years Air Wriglev was a cricketer and a volunteer. He leaves a r 'dow and one daughter by a former marriage, a Mrs Ellis, who is living m South Africa.
