COSTER BALL AT OPUNAKE
QUEEN CARNIVAL ASSEMBLY. (Prom Our Own Correspondent.) The coster hall on Wednesday night in the Gpunakc town hall proved a most enjoyable function. Several wore present in coster costumes and prizes were won as follows: Ladies, Miss J. McCullum 1, Miss Mc-Dougall 2, Mrs. Quiglev 3; men’s, Messrs A. Friar 1, E. Riley 2. Music for the evening was supplied hv Hooker’s Merrymakers orchestra and ’Messrs J. Clouston and P. Dawson. Novelty dances were won by Mr. and Miss Hannigan (Monte Carlo) and Mr. K. Riley and partner (statue waltz). Daring the evening the trophies were presented to the winning team (Okinawa) of- the sovon-a-side football tournament. . The function was in aid of the .Seaside Sports Queen. Miss May Barney. The position of candidates in the carnival is: 1, Sports, Miss May Barney; 2, Plunket, Miss Gladvs Baylis; 3, Business, Miss Joan McCullum.
