SHAW’S FREE MILK PROPOSAL
BOARD NOT IMPRESSED. CHAIRMAN’S DISAPPOINTMENT. (B s lelegrapn—Press Association.) AUCKLAND, April 13. Mr Bernard Shaw’s free milk proposal in his broadcast speech last evening, did not impress members of the Auckland Metropolitan Milk Council. At a meeting to-day the chairman, Mr G. W. Hutcheson, said he did not know what the producers would be feeling about it-. A Tronsdale producers’ representative said it was an excellent idea providing the costs were all reimbursed by the Government. Mr Hutcheson said it would appear that Mr Shaw was under the impression that water was free. A member: Unfortunately, that’s not the case.
Mr Hutcheson: I certainly am disappointed in the views of some philosophers who have recently been visiting New Zealand.
