A group of treasure hunters tracing a reputedly enormous cahe of pirate gold through researches at Sydney have discovered over £10,000,000 worth ot metal on an island in the Tuamotn Archipelago, under 18 loot of sand ami water, states an Associated Press dispatch from Tahiti. The French Government is reported to have placed a guard over the s[>ot. .The finders are now organising an engineering expedition ia the hope of lifting to the surface 25 tons of wedgeshaped gold ingots dating hack to the Inca times of Peru. The Tuamotu Islands are a group in IfrdheK'.'Oceania, a' -’little to the ea'st of the Society Islands, which include Tahiti. They have a population ot 4276. .
