Failure to complete a contract executed on behalf of a clinic (which was afterward found to be of a bogus nature) in Cathedral Squire again brought Edward Andrews Morgan to the Court this morning. He was charged that with intent to defraud at Tdmaru on July 24 he obtained money from Janet Rodger Brown by falsely representing that he was qualified to treat persons for slimming and for general health, and ivas in business' at a clinic in Cathedral Square, Christchurch. Accused pleaded guilty. The Chief Detective said that complainant was a hairdresser in Tima.ru. Accused told her that he was in business in Christchurch, and complainant agreed to take a course of slimming at £7 7.5. She paid o| deposit of £2 2s and accused gave her a list showing diet and exercise. He did not complete the course, and complainant saw a report of a similar case and communicated with the police. In fairness to accused it should be said that the offence was committed at the same time as the one with which he was charged in March. Accused was convicted and ordered to come up for sentence if called on, and was ordered to make restitution.
