The annual picnic of the Mangntoki tT .school Avas held at Opunake on Friday : of‘last AA-eok under fair weather conditioiiis. The liberal response, of msi--1 dents to the appeal of the committee fc for funds enabled the organisers to 5 be generous in the paying of .prizes r aixd providing fruit for all. Special assistance Aims given the committee and staff by Mrs A. E. Mahon, Messrs > J. Sheerin. L.‘ Terry. G. Pease and l C. Pease C. Pease, W. Carlson, A. A. Hammonds. L. J. Taylor J. H. Anderson J. Shearin and B. H, Par- ' leer. The committee appreciated the assistance given by car owners in the > conveyance of children and Mr Hammond for the free use of his loiry. JUNIOR RED CROSS. FIRST AID CERTIFICATES. The folloAving children were successful in gaining the junior First aid certificates which were presented on Thursday at the MungatokL scliooi: Fiona Douglass (honours) 90 per cent., Gladys Carlson 79 per cent., Ronakt Taylor 79 per cent., Jean Burke and \lary Muir 69 per cent.. Out her in Johnson 64 per cent., Reggie Gatenby 59 per cent., Jose Bennie 58 pei cent., Laurie Carlson 56 per com., , Erice Sheerin 53 per cent. ' These junior Red Cress members ] throughout the year did many acts oi service ,such as sending carrots to the Oitnki Health Camp, donating mone> to Eltham unemployed and the Red Cross car. knitting garments for the needy and they held a bazaar foi junior Red Cross funds. They also made and sent a portfolio to Canada and contributed £2 to tlie school committee funds.
