HIGHER WOOL RECEIPTS
REVIEW OF SYDNEY SALES NEARLY £10,000,000 INCREASE. JULY TO FEBRUARY PERIOD. Received 12.30 p.m. to-day. SYDNEY, March 10. In its weekly wool letter the “Sydney Morning Herald” says that at the' closing of the sales at Sydney this week 38,318 bales were offered, of ■which S 6 per cent, were sold at auctionl. The catalogues averaged only 14.7 pence per lb., but' owing .to the large quantity of erutchingq, lambs and other odd meats offered the average should not bo taken as a criterion of the general level of ithe market. The almost consistently good selling markets experienced throughout the sca.son are indicated' by the fact that' of 1,000,353 baleo offered, 92 per cent, were sold at auction. The market indeed .closed under better .selling conditions than were anticipated. The selections have been very miscellaneous in character, with extremely heavy catalogues. From July 1 to February 2S the sales of wool in th« Sydney market totalled 982,063 bales, which realised £20,290,670. Compared -with the similar period of 1932-33 the quantity shows an increase of 65.,457 bales and the amount realised an increase of £9,909,807. COMPETITION AT LONDON. DEMAND FOR. FINE SORTS.
