POSSIBLE AUSTRALIAN VISIT. PROSPECTS' OF MATCHES (By “Physical Culturist”) Whether Tolan, the Negro, sprinter, who won the 100 yards at the last Olympic Games, is the fastest human at present in front of the public may be shortly set at rest,.for Tolan has forfeited his amateur status and may visit Australia in. search of cash. It will be remembered that Austin Robertson, who has proved he is the fastest sprinter in Australia in recent years, if not for all time, lately returned from U.S.A. wrere he went, with money to burn, in search of a match in which he was unsuccessful. However, since his return an Australian sport who had: seen a, trial in l which Robertson covered a hundred yards in four yards inside, when approached to make up a fund in order to invito Tolan to Victoria, intimated his willingness to provide the bulk of the money necessary. If Totan. accepts the Victorian offer, other world-famed sprinters may be invited, too, so that Victoria,.may become a centre.of professional matches. -However, it. is to be luiped that' Rdbcftspri’s injured leg will stand' up to training. Quite rc-j eently he sprained a muscle which, caused him to refrain from running,j Postle did something similar which, in ! the opinion of experts on training, was the cause of his losing some of his matches, for to his credit bo it said his worst enemy would not accuse Postle of “going crook.” Robertson’s leg may stand if he gives it sufficient rest.
