DINNER SUITS FOR POLICEMEN
INTERESTING- details about the new . Metropolitan Police College at Henudon, N.W., have been disclosed officially, says the “Daily Mail.” A 1 those who enter the college will have the rank of junior station inspector.
Those without previous police experience will, on passing out of the college, serve for a period as a constable and a sergeant in uniform. No officer, not previously in theFo.ree, will be allowed to marry for four years after joining the college. All officers at the college must provide themselves with a dinner-jacket suit, four dress shirts, and patent shoes.
It is made known in the official booklet: “Conditions of Entry and Service,” that the men may be chosen by three methods.

ard of education, such as university degree, without examination; ox by competitive examination. The first course will open in the late spring or early sumlmer of 19.34, and entry will be limited to twenty members' of the Force and twelve men chosen by competitive examination. The subjects in which instruction will be given include motor-cai’ driving, wireless communication, use of firearms, elementary riding and horsemastership, deportment, and ju-jitsu.
The pay will be at the rate of £l7O a' year while at the college and £225 while undergoing practical training. The college candidates must be between 20 and 26, and the minimum height is sft Sin. One surprising feature of the physical requirements _is that “inability to distinguish the principal colours will not be regarded as a cause of rejection”—a strange concession in these days' of traffic lights.
