CHARGE OF £IOO THEFT. HOSPITAL ACQUAINTANCESHIP. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) AUCKLAND, Oct. 19. Hugh Classen McCready, aged 32, printer, was to-day committed for trial on a charge of stealing £IOO, the property of H. C. Mclntyre. The evidence showed that both were patients in the public hospital and Mclntyre confided that he had £IOO to collect from the Public Trust Office. The accused volunteered to collect it for him and Mclntyre gave him an order and also lent the accused an overcoat and gave hint £1 to buy a wallet. He never saw accused again till in the court to-dav.

The police said the accused told them he had spent all the money except fivepence. When asked how he spent it he replied that he did not know exactly, but “her” name was Nellie.

The accused pleaded not guilty
