After a week’s success 111 Manchester, where critics said it was a delight- —> ful comedy, smoothly produced, the New Zealander, Merton Hodge, is to present “The Wand the Rain,” rather reminiscent of “Young Woodley,at the St. Martin’s Theatre under the direction of Auriol Lee. Mr Hodge is the fast New Zealander to secure a West Ehd production. Another of his plays has been bought for production in 1934.

When in New Zealand Dr. Merton Hodge was a keen amateur actor, and at Otago University was prominent in work of that character. He took ai leading part in capping activities, and about three years ago was a member of the cast of Noel Coward’s play “The Young Idea,” which was produced in Wellington for charitable purposes, {Shortly after that he left for England. {He was for some time on the staff of the Wellington Hospital.
